Liposuction as a body-contouring procedure rather than a weight-loss intervention. The teaching examines how fat distribution, skin quality, anatomical proportions and patient expectations influence treatment selection and planning.

The course covers preoperative assessment, documentation, marking, tumescent infiltration, equipment and cannula selection. Fat-grafting teaching explores harvesting, processing and regional treatment planning, including microfat, nanofat, stromal vascular fraction (SVF) gel and combinations with platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

The course suits doctors involved in surgical and aesthetic practice who wish to review these approaches through lectures, clinical photographs, case discussion and equipment demonstrations. Participants practise analytical skills by comparing patient factors, reviewing treatment plans and identifying technical risks and counselling priorities within the cases presented.

Complications, variable graft retention, repeat treatment and postoperative care are considered throughout. The teaching includes lecturer-specific preferences, debated claims and exploratory applications; it should be approached as a review of clinical practice rather than a complete validated procedural protocol.

Learning objectives

  • Distinguish the aims of liposuction, body contouring and fat-based rejuvenation from weight loss.
  • Assess patient characteristics, anatomical limitations and expectations relevant to treatment planning.
  • Compare the infiltration approaches, equipment and cannula selection considerations presented.
  • Describe the fat-harvesting and processing methods discussed for microfat, nanofat and SVF gel.
  • Recognise the complications, anatomical risks and postoperative counselling priorities highlighted in the cases.
  • Differentiate lecturer-specific practice and exploratory hypotheses from validated procedural guidance.
