Understanding reproductive anatomy, endocrine regulation and gamete development provides the foundation for assessing infertility. This course connects these principles with female and male causes of infertility and the treatment pathways discussed in assisted reproduction.

Training covers ovulation induction, oral and injectable treatments, follicular monitoring and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. It introduces intrauterine insemination, IVF and ICSI, then examines gamete assessment, embryo development, endometrial preparation and embryo transfer.

Further teaching explores cryopreservation of gametes, reproductive tissues and embryos, alongside egg donation and preimplantation genetic testing. Surrogacy considerations, regulations and ethical context presented in the lessons, with attention to consent and counselling.

The course suits doctors and clinicians developing foundational knowledge of fertility care. Through the video teaching, participants practise linking reproductive physiology to assessment findings, comparing treatment approaches and identifying monitoring, laboratory and counselling considerations.

Learning objectives

  • Explain female and male reproductive anatomy, endocrine regulation and the processes supporting fertilisation, pregnancy and lactation.
  • Outline infertility assessment, including ovulatory disorders, ovarian reserve, semen analysis and tubal patency.
  • Compare ovulation-induction approaches and describe monitoring requirements and treatment risks.
  • Describe IUI, IVF and ICSI pathways, including gamete assessment, embryo development and transfer.
  • Distinguish cryopreservation approaches for gametes, reproductive tissues and embryos.
  • Discuss donor treatment, preimplantation genetic testing and the ethical and counselling considerations presented for surrogacy.
